Richard D. Fitzgerald, 71, of Tulsa, passed away April 15, 2019 after an illness surrounded by loved ones.  He was born November 4, 1947 in Talihina to Richard and Minnie Mae (Rutledge) Fitzgerald.  He was a volunteer with the Civil Air Patrol for more than 50 years reaching the rank of Lt. Colonel and took pride in the cadets and the work the patrol performed.  He was an Engineer in the communications sector and his work took him to Africa and Europe.  He loved the adventure and experiences that the world had to offer. His hobbies included amateur radio operation (W5RDF) and tinkering with radio and communication equipment. He was a proud member of the Choctaw Nation.  Richard was preceded in death by his parents.  Richard is survived by his wife Andrea (Drumm) Fitzgerald of the home; Jason Fitzgerald and wife Shannon of Jenks and James Fitzgerald and wife Kathryn of Broken Arrow; Step Children Eric Tankersley of Broken Arrow, Lora Pierce and husband James of Bixby, Alli Maynard and Husband Brian of Dallas, and Matt Stangl of Norman.  Grandchildren Jerrett, Kali and Clifford Pierce, Elizabeth Tankersley, Taylor Fitzgerald, Vincent Stangl, Henry and Jack Maynard, and Madelyn Fitzgerald. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
