Title: DEW line
Post by: Nikos on March 07, 2016, 11:02:33 PM
Was the DEW Line a Air Force operated system?  Or was this system operated by the Army as part of the missile defense system?

The Air Force ran the Texas Towers (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_Towers) that were part of the Atlantic Barrier, which was an extension of the DEW Line. TT-4 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_Tower_4) collapsed, 28 airman and civilians died, and it is now a dive site.

BarPac and BarLant were Navy missions.  My father flew BarPac EC-121's out of Barber's Point.

I lived in Argentia for two years, and watched out my bedroom window to see the Willy Victors flying out and back.
