Well that got interesting pretty quickly Mr. Slimshady.

I am so confused.

Slim ran his mouth right into a ban, then hacked his way around the ban to create a new account and start this thread. Then I get a message from another member that slim is hacking his computer, email, and twitter. Maybe it's another one of slim's accounts. Maybe not. Don't know. I do know that when I get time, I'm tempted to send slim's squadron, group, and wing commander a letter. This young man has gone way beyond any kind of behavior that is acceptable from a CAP adult member.

Interesting.
Did you poll the "stolen valor" websites for said individual?

I knew something was wrong with that person. The questions he posed and the comments he made really set off my troll alarm. Someone who wants to get a job with NHQ to effect change? Come on.

Then this thread, and the fact that he was hacking into accounts sealed the deal. He's pathological, definitely someone you don't want in CAP, especially not as an Officer.

I think Pace is right, that he should send a note to the person's commander.

Attempting to gain unlawful access to a computer system is a criminal activity. If this kid really is "hacking" computers, the local authorities should be contacted.

I know I'm old school, but what you described used to be called "cracking," and computer hacking wasn't an inherently bad thing. In any event I concur with your post.

That was until "cracking" became the art of breaking DRM protected files/programs. Unfortunately, "hackers" lost the battle to keep the name, resulting in a new type of certification that has added the adjective "ethical" to hacker as a method of differentiation.

Personally, I prefer the nice and simple terminology of "Black Hat," "White Hat," and "Grey Hat."

What really matters is that we have access (in fully tiger striped tapes and insignia ABUs) to get into the duty free store and BX for a tax free TV and Jack to enjoy while were hanging out at the base bowling alley after using the base gym.

Interesting ...
So, can cadets in uniform make purchases in uniform @ the Class 6 if they have a note from their squadron commander?

Nope. There's still that pesky age thing. Also, the reg about exchange privileges specifically forbids Class 6 purchases. (Emphasis mine.)

14. Servicemembers of the Civil Air Patrol in a travel status and
occupying government quarters on a DOD installation.
a. For purchases other than uniforms, they will be identified with
their current membership card, their travel authorization, and evi-
dence they are occupying government quarters on the installation.
b. Purchase of uniforms, when Civil Air Patrol membership card is
shown.
c. No state tax-free tobacco items.
d. No tax-free alcohol beverages.

Duty Free Store? ???  I don't ever recall seeing a Duty Free Store on any US Military installation.
Are you by chance referring to the Class 6 store? Well, CAP has never been allowed to use the Class 6.
And cadets wouldn't be allowed inside anyway, because you do have to be 21 to buy alcohol on base.

goblin

Aren't all BX/PX/NEXs technically duty free?

MHC5096

Duty is paid when importing an item from another country. That doesn't apply since the facilities are within the United States. Tax-free would be the appropriate term.

I've never seen anything Duty- free in the Military.. I've seen plenty of regular Duty, Staff Duty, CQ Duty and I've even seen others participate in Extra Duty, but Duty Free- I think thats every Specialists dream.
