Boot Q.

Are the 5.11 tactical 8" ATAC side zip's a good boot? My dad is a fireman and he wears them on duty, and loves them, so that is what he got me, but my friend in cap told me the tread will wear out on them in the field very quickly because it is soft tread so..
I have them already, and like them, just asking for thoughts..

If a firefighter doesn't kill the tread .. you think a once week cadet is going to?

Cadets doing drill on pavement can tear up a pair of boots fairly quickly. Soft soles might not fare so well.

Yeah, I don't think tactical boots are made with drill on pavement in mind.
