I have in my collection 2 copies of CAPP 24, Indoctrination and Operational Procedures for OWNER-PILOT SPECIALISTS, May 1961. Apparently, OPS were pilots who donated their aircraft and time to fly SAR missions and received training as Mision Pilots. They paid annual dues but did not wear the uniform, hold any rank, or attend regular meetings. Besides paying dues, they were required to wear the OPS Emergency Services Badge and conduct themselves in a manner that would reflect the high standards of Civil Air Patrol.

Any of you guys from BITD remeber this program? Did it work? Did it not work? Let me know.

I've got a scan of an ad from a magazine for that from the early 70's, I believe. Gotta find it. May have been in Flying Magazine, IIRC.

Kinda made me laugh, and cry, at the same time.
