Hello Everyone:

I've been creating a series of videos for aircrew as part of our squadron ES training evolutions and am sharing here for the broader CAP ES community.  So far we have three:

1. G1000 Search and Rescue Package (an option found on some newer G1000-equipped aircraft)
http://youtu.be/qhbrqCyJBDA

2. Tracking Lat/Long in Realtime on the G1000
http://youtu.be/4AZ0MmzXgsg

3. Introduction to the Becker 517 / RT-600 Version (found in some CAP aircraft)
http://youtu.be/4AZ0MmzXgsg

Note: the RT-600 version of the Becker DF is operated different from the "standard" version of the Becker that is far more common in CAP.  I will be shortly posting a video for the "standard" version, but note which version you are using before using the checklists and manuals referenced in this video.

You can find the manual and a handy reference card (suitable for your checklist) on our squadron ES share: http://cid-22d26b7bc7b925d2.office.live.com/browse.aspx/Public/Becker%5E_DF%5E_517%5E_RT600

Stay tuned - more on the way!  As always, feedback is welcome - you can post it here or shoot me an email: CAPSeattleES@live.com

Very nicely done, and a very good idea.
I have been thinking about doing a set of drill videos from our squadron

Nice videos! The one for the new Becker already got passed around my wing when someone asked a question about it.

What other do you have planned? Might be useful to have intros to the CAP aircraft radios, esp the NPX.

Here's what I am currently working on:
1. Introduction to the Becker 517 (Standard version) - need this since our new squadron aircraft has this version in it
2. Operation of the TDFM 136.  This will not go on YouTube however as it displays channel/frequency information
3. Aerial Scanning - we've planned an integrated air/ground operation and will display targets and signals from different altitudes and distances.  The objective is to demonstrate what possible targets look like from the air.  I have now built a stabilization rig for my DSLR so we will also approximate what this will look like to the good 'ole Mark I Eyeball.
4. Electronic Search - we'll fly and video a full ELT search mission, demonstrating all techniques (wing null, detuning, DF) useful in locating a signal.
5. Various other G1000 tips and tricks
6. Building a Personal Survival Kit - developed in conjunction with the USAF SERE School

These are the topics most requested lately, but I'd love to hear what others think as well.  I'd also love to see these videos spark other units to share their own practices and tips .... "all of us is better than some of us" and I know there are some great ideas out there which could benefit us all

There are ways to blank that out of the video, or just put some tape over that part of the display!

Excellent videos!

This is great! I'm going to send it out to my squadron ;D

Excellent videos, however the links provided for the lat/Lon and the Becker points to the same video.
Thanks!

Great work.  This is exactly the type of member talent and ideas that the national level should be tapping.
