DES MOINES, Iowa -- A Pleasantville woman and her son reported missing Tuesday were found late Wednesday afternoon in Colby, Kansas.
Some Hartford residents called 911 at about 2 a.m. Tuesday after a woman was found knocking on strangers' doors who seemed to be in distress, police said.
Warren County deputies talked to the woman and she told them she would head home, but she never made it there.
Police said Sarah Kate Kobliska, 44, and her 11-year-old son, Paul, left their home at 805 Linden St. in Pleasantville early Tuesday morning. Police said she did not talk to her husband, who was asleep in bed, nor did she leave a note indicating where she was going.
Kobliska left the house in a white 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 Crew Cab with a Tanoe cover, with the Iowa license plate HY184. She did not take any luggage, clothes, or her wallet. Paul's bicycle is also missing, but no other property appeared to be disturbed, police said.
While investigating the incident, Pleasantville police said they attempted to track Kobliska using her cell phone. The phone was identified as being in the Hartford, Iowa, area at about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday and in the Mount Ayr, Iowa, area at about 2:15 p.m.
Kobliska called her husband Tuesday afternoon to say that she and Paul were OK and in the Mount Ayr area. She has a history of mental illness and displayed indications to her husband and others she had come into contact with that she is suffering from some sort of mental illness or distress causing her to act in a paranoid and irrational manner, the police said.
Kobliska is described as white, 5 feet 4 inches tall and 115 pounds with brown eyes and brown hair. She was last seen wearing a white sweater or windbreaker over a T-shirt and blue shorts. She has slightly longer than shoulder-length brown hair that was last seen up in a ponytail. She was also last seen wearing glasses.
Paul is described as a white, 4 feet 4 inches tall, 60 pounds, blue eyes and blond hair. He was last seen wearing a gray T-shirt and gray shorts.
The Iowa Department of Public Safety says a Kansas state trooper saw the wanted vehicle and pulled it over. Both Kobliska and her son are safe.
