BattagliaK

Hello,

In CAP, I am C/SrA Kenneth Battaglia. I have been in CAP for about 6 months, and have been to 2 CAP events outside of my squadron.

I am also an AFJROTC C/2d Lt. I am in my third year of AFJROTC.

Anyway, I am from NY Wing, NYC Group, and hope to be an active member of this forum! :)

So I guess this is where I say 'hi'.

I'm not yet a Civil Air Patrol member, but I've been thinking about and researching joining for several months (it is between CAP and Coast Guard Aux, and I'm leaning towards CAP).  I'm likely to finish making up my mind in the next few weeks.

Anyway, I'm a 41 year old high school special education/social studies teacher (this is my 6th year).  I joined the Army out of high school but unfortunately it didn't work out and I was discharged after Basic Training.  After the Army didn't work out, I joined the Maryland Defense Force for a year before moving out of state for a year.  Through much of my life, starting in high school, I have been involved in serving my community (in addition to the MDF, I've done a lot of volunteer work in the past- working on political campaigns and issues, working in soup kitchens, tutoring, volunteer work with disabled children, etc).  For a while now I have only given back to the community through my work and it is time that I do more.  In addition to teaching, I am currently in a masters program with a dual concentration in curriculum and instruction and educational administration.

I am leaning towards the aerospace education specialty track but I'm also interested in historian, emergency services (though I would be concerned that being terribly out of shape may make this tough, though I'm working on it), or moral leadership officer (I've often thought about the clergy but I just can't afford to spend 5 years in school full-time paying large tuition payments without working and making an income).

I'm glad to find this forum and plan to spend a lot more time reading here to help make up my mind.

I used to be the Squadron Commander for the Leavenworth County Composite Squadron located on Fort Leavenworth KS along with being KS Wing Emergency Services Officer.  I left CAP back in 2002 and have returned to Search and Rescue in the State of Maine working on two different teams.  Currently teaching FUNSAR to a class of 6 students and these 6 will be responding under the direction of law enforcement for a town in Maine.  Cannot release the name of the department just yet per their request.

I am also the Emergency Coordinator for Penobscot County Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) and we are going through our credentialing process starting next month so we can have our State of Maine First Responder ID cards.

I've been cruising CAP Talk for a while but never needed to post much.  I figured I might as well introduce myself.

My name is Mike Blackey.  I'm the commander of San Francisco Cadet Squadron 86 "Excellence in Action"
I was a Cadet, now I'm a Senior.
My biggest accomplishment in CAP has been starring in a movie about cadet programs.

Blackey,

I think you should post the link to the video....it never gets old!

Okay, you waited too long; Here it is: The Real First Sergeant
"The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee."

Hi, I'm Michelle Anderson-Tesla from Winchester Composite Squadron in Virginia Wing.  I've been in Civil Air Patrol since 1995 and was a cadet, made it to my Eaker, missed my Spaatz by one question on Aerospace by the third try.  I'm now a Major on the dark side and a Squadron Leadership Officer.  I've held every position from Squadron Commander to Group to Wing staff and have worked on National projects.  I *totally* enjoy being a member of Civil Air Patrol and wouldn't change it for the world.

Welcome to CAP Talk.

I used to do the occasional exercise with Winchester back in the early to late 90s.  Good bunch of folks out there.  I was in DC Wing, Fairfax and Mount Vernon Squadrons and organized some joint training with Prince William, Leesburg and Winchester.
Serving since 1987.

Howdy,

I was a C/Lt.Col. in the SCWG from 1989-1994 and a senior member from 1994-1995.  I let my membership lapse while I was in the USAF and college.  From there a multitude of things kept me away but recently I've gained a new interest in CAP and I'm in the process of rejoining.

I'm rejoining in the CAWG but I won't be here long because I'm moving to Texas to attend grad school at TCU.

I found this site through searching for things the knowledgebase doesn't address and I've enjoyed getting caught up on all that I've missed.

Hi, my name is Richie.  I'm a SrA (SSgt select) in the USAF, stationed at Eglin AFB, FL.  I'm an F-15C/D/E crew chief, but looking to retrain to intelligence in about a year.

I'm heavily researching volunteering with the CAP because I want to be sure I have time between active duty, family, and church to give CAP the time it deserves from me.  I'm looking into the mission scanner career field.  I love airplanes, while working on fighter planes is fun, I want to fly as well.  I could retrain to a flying career in the USAF, but I'm leaning more towards intel and flying with the CAP.

I'd love to hear from anyone who is AD and in the CAP, or from anyone involved as a mission scanner.

Thanks for the forum!
