Title: ANSI Class 3 Jackets
Post by: Jerry Jacobs on April 30, 2010, 12:33:47 AM
I've been looking for an ANSI Class 3 Jacket lately, preferably 3 season style as I am in California and very rarely does it get cold enough to warrant heavy clothing at least in the areas I will be operating in.  I am going with ANSI Class 3 Jackets because of the high visibility and many others in Non CAP SAR Teams (I'm on one) wear them over their uniforms.  What I'm looking for is a good balance of quality and cost, detachable hood, pockets on the inside and outside.

My research has shown me a couple of options I am now considering.

Reversible Jacket with many pockets, can be worn as vest  http://tsasafety.com/product_details.php?key=681

Waterproof Thermal Jacket http://hivizsupply.com/store/product.cfm?pid=745643474B177A

Right now I'm leaning towards the reversible jacket.  Does anyone else have any other jackets that you'd consider?

I have this one and used to wear it for highway operations while on the ambulance.

I looked at gall's and liked their stuff but I specifically want Orange personally.

May be a limited scope for ANSI with the NHTSA shift to yellow.

This one - http://www.galls.com/style.html?assort=general_catalog&style=JA006 - is pictured in orange, but listed in the menu only in lime green.

It seems like they have discontinued most of their orange products. I can't find the jacket my old CC had. I think it was this one - http://www.galls.com/style.html?assort=general_catalog&style=JA171 - but in orange. I know he had custom lettering on it.

It is, however, not a Class 3 garment.
