1. Better tracking of squadron members' activity.
2. Improve the Officer Training School.
3. Try to get funding for a new roof on my HQ.
4. Planning and preparation for the USAF-Evaliated exercise... to be conducted at my HQ this year.
5. Assist my Group CC in standing up a Cadet Squadron to meet in my HQ.
6. PD Goals: NONE. I have achieved the Army Goal of "Being all I can be."

1. Successfully implement (ball's been rolling since November) and complete my squadron's FY11 ES training plan.

3. Perform well as my squadron's ES Officer and promote to 1LT.
I would like to get spun back up on my ES quals. Mission Observer to be specific. Getting rated in Safety is also a goal and probably the first one I'll accomplish this year as it is my "job" in CAP now. Suppose I should also fill in the missing boxes for Level II as well.
I'm hoping to attend NSC (work schedule permitting) and finally finish requirements for the Wilson.
Having just rejoined after a (gulp!) 28-year hiatus, I've got a lot to do!
1) Get back in the "general CAP groove"
2) Get my head around Logistics, which seems to be one place where my squadron has told me I can be of immediate help
3) Start back in on GT
4) Get on the track for Scanner/Observer
5) Maybe find a way to give back to the CP by trying to go to this year's Encampment as a TAC or something...
Take advantage of the interest in ES that the cadets are showing all on their own and start with UDF and Mission Base Staff. Senior Members can get their own coffee.
Help with some fun AE projects to get cadets minds going.
I hope to staff at PCR RSC, and attend NSC this year so I can get Level V before Lt. Col.
In no particular order:
1. Get my [consarn] Earhart award (and Eaker, time permitting).
2. Continue the improvement of my unit, namely build up the C/NCO corps and recruit some new cadets.
3. Maybe staff Summer Encampment.
Living and working out here in Kwajalein, it's rather expensive to fly back to the mainland. So, I have to carefully select which activities to attend back in the States.
Applying for staff at 2011 Pacific Region Staff College - if I don't get picked up for staff, it's just vacation time off the rock.
Applying for 2011 NSC. That should complete all my requirements for Level V.
1) Attend RSC in person if possible.
2) Be an instructor or facilitator at a SLS, CLC, or NSC if possible.
3) Finish:
8 Movie DVD with vintage CAP movies 16MM converted to DVD.
Collectors Catalog CD. (ALL Collectors Catalogs available on one CD)
70th Annv Poster
4) Visit some of the squadrons in Georgia.
5) My son will be in the 6th Grade this year and will encourage him to give CAP a try. (long term goal).
1. Get my squadron's CP back on track. It's alright, but has faltered this past year a little and needs some hand holding for a few months.
2. After the CP is back on a steady footing, grow the CP by recruiting at local middle and junior high schools.
3. Get several cadets GTM3 trained or higher.
4. Complete my level 3 so I can promote to Major as soon as I'm TIG eligible next May. Just have to do the two conferences.
1. Director of Wing TLC course (February)
2. Level III (March)
3. Work on Level IV, more than 1/2 of the requirements already met
4. Continue with upgrading CP

In my previous squadron we recognized seniors just as much as cadets. It helped to keep them interested I think, and it also helps to kill some time in the senior schedule.
In my current squadron, I know we used to do this, but lately it seems like the seniors aren't being recognized as much as they should, and I hope to change that.
I was selected to become the new Professional Develpment officer. So perhaps I can start this up in my squadron in 2011 :)

It varied. The leadership was motivated and wanted the unit to succeed. Other seniors were more "casual." Regardless of the persons morale and interest level, the leadership ensured that that person got recognized. Sometimes it would be a few months between when we'd see the person and when the achievement happened, but it wasn't forgotten. Amazingly, it's something that can actually draw someone back in.

Oh, a lot of places. New Hampshire, Virginia, Louisiana for actual squadrons I've been a member of. I've also had the privilege of being a seminar advisor for NSC, etc and all the experiences that have been shared with me were pretty similar, not necessarily to the extent of ES qualification, but at minimum promotions, level awards and yeagers.

I'm the Chief of Staff. My goals are to support the Wing Commander in increasing O-Rides, A/C utilization, increase the number of Wright (Cadets side) and Yeager (Senior Side) awards. 1. I have a lengthy/detailed written-out plan for 2011, which includes adding more CP staff, implementing a wide variety of activities/programs, and generally improving my section to its maximum potential.
2. Complete Level IV.
3. Continue to develop/maintain FLWG/Group 3 as the top Group-level Cadet Program in FLWG and SER.
Some of my personal goals:
1. Earn Mitchell, preferably by June
2. Get onto PAWG Encampment Staff
3. Get onto my squadron's staff
4. Go on some missions and earn my GTM3
5. Go back to NBB; try out for NBB staff
6. MOST IMPORTANT - RELATES TO #1: Work up on PT, get C/CMSgt by February
I fully intend to be less active in 2011 than any other year I've been in. Joys of a new job and not knowing where I'll end up.

My own cap plans, become atleast a sergeant by summer encampment (I think the name 'Cader airmen first class coolican' is a little long, I cant wait till I promote.)

For your ES ratings, both weeks of NESA get that done quickly enough. And encampment is always a blast.

Any advice on recruiting techniques and places? :)
Quite a bit. I did some RA duty before shipping off to OSUT for the army... I will make a list.
1. Ensure you have time and money as CAP most likely will not support you expenses (buy recruiting material)
-Pens, key chains, bumber stickers... there cheap to buy (around 200.00 considering) and will remind someone to actually contact CAP for more information.
2. If you have a laptop, use it. Download videos, photos, facts, manuels... have the information ready so when someone says "what do you do" you can show them a video. Telling them is simple, but noone trusts recruiters. They want to see it, not hear about it.
3. Expect this to be as if your a real recruiter. Call schools and see if they will let you come in on lunches, of talk to your local malls, display booths at events. Order posters on erservices, distribute all over.
-Schools,. colleges, department stores. get permission before you invade the places though. The last thing we want is a negative image.
4. Try not to go a lone. If your a cadet have a and cadet SM there. If your a SM, work it to have least 2 cadets. Fact is, have more than 1 person. Different stories and different opionions. Plus, you can each wear a different uniform, allowing potentials to have a wider interest in joining.
5. Bussiness cards are a must. Print them at home, or order them. Do whatever, but when all is said and done, nothing says I am a profession like a bussiness card. Plus, it will have a website on it, phone number, address, you can write the meeting time on back (I do this incase we may not be at the normal location, ex: the college gym for PT when we normally meet at the armory).

Date usually is set by June or July, and it's usually towards the end of October. Once I know the date, then I will make my plans to get off the rock to attend...

Well I just make Fun of her because she was my flight commander at NBB. Although, she probably could take over the world if she wanted to.
Haha you know I could! At Civic Leadership Academy this year, a bunch of us cadets planned a world take-over during dinner one night. The way we figured, I started out being the undercover hitman for the initial despot, and ended up supreme dictator! XD lol now you know what happens when you get a bunch of over-achievers running on very little sleep together and give them twenty minutes of spare time.

So far I've been successful, but in checking my 101 I've got several quals that I'm going to need to renew this year. One of them is my "regular" duty and won't be an issue, but I really don't know if its worth it to renew GT and UDF. We have so few missions now that when we do have one it is usually big enough to need a mission staff, and thats where I am needed most. If we still had a few ELT missions I might have some opportunities to go out on them, but I don't see it happening. And, like in most of CAP the wing hasn't really taken the steps necessary to get us really involved in lost person searches.
On the other hand, I am still young enough and in decent enough shape that it is very possible that I could be one of the few seniors with GT quals available in certain situations. But, I've been holding on to them just for that reason for probably 5 years now and it hasn't been a factor yet.
Guess I'm just losing confidence that my investment in personal time to CAP is worth it given the apparent lack of need for our services. Not sure that a mission a year is going to keep my interest. I fear that I"m halfway to ghost status.
Well, one step closer to Level V.
Level IV is out of the way. ;)

I know this is a thread resurrect, but since the year is coming to a close I thought it would be interesting to see how the goals panned out for everyone.
For myself
1)Not only stood up a team, but they won Wing Competition, very proud of these cadets.
2)Ended up taking half the squadron to Encampment this year.
3)Almost did that in October alone.
4)Cadet is now a c/Capt, and currently does not have time for CAP at the moment, as he is at UND now.
5)Figures, the one thing I didn't accomplish is the one that directly benefits me
6)And I think I did a pretty good job, but I may be a little biased. 99.99% completion rate (one cadet had a bad ear infection on the second day of encampment, which ended with him returning home early)
And new goals for 2012:
1)Coach my CG team well enough for them to win Region Comp
2)Form 91 ride
3)Continue with a positive recruiting effort
4)At least 2 new mitchell cadets, and get the current mitchell cadets to c/Capt
5)Facilitate a chance for our cyber patriot team to make it to nationals
6)return as Commandant to this coming year's encampment
7)Senior rating in CP and ES
8)Finish Level 3

I'm an IT guy who always rolls his eyes when vendors promise "5 9's of reliability". Generally, the salespeople don't quite understand just how little 5 minutes per year is.

I'm an IT guy who always rolls his eyes when vendors promise "5 9's of reliability". Generally, the salespeople don't quite understand just how little 5 minutes per year is.
As IT folks we're supposed to design our systems to be redundant as to provide 5 9's of reliability. At least, that's what the books say :P.
