Is anyone else troubled that the Member News section on the CAP website hasn't shown any news in six months-only obituaries.

Didn't even know there there was a "Member News" section on the website.

The magazine continues to have the awards section at the end.

Things it could have:  Wing and Region Commander Appointments
National Awards to include: Medals of Valor, DSM's, ESA's-any approved at or initiated at the National level
Milestones Mitchell and higher, Loening and above
Announce changes to regs and manuals

The Magazine is fine, but it's only quarterly An online monthly website can do so much more to update the membership, other than being the obits page,

With all the "social" nonsense going on, I would imagine those that need to know "things" know them.

I can't imagine too many people are surfing through NHQ's site on a regular basis.

RSS is your friend.

Bingo. Especially with Cadets.  With social media, Cadets (and many Seniors) are posting their awards and other things "during the meeting" as it happens.  By the time a PAO could send something to National it might be weeks later before someone there puts it online. Old news by then. A historical page. LOL

There's no need for a PAO.  NHQ can pull all this info with a couple of eServices reports.....

And who at Hdqs would decide amongst the thousands of bits of member news, what to post online?  Might be best not do do any, lest someone get their feelings hurt.  Maybe thats the reason.

I would say 99% of 'member news' is just of local interest anyway. I wouldn't want to have to search through everything and decide what would be of national interest.  We already have folks doing that for the CAP Magazine for articles. That should be enough.
