Title: CAP Flying funded by other organizations
Post by: RiverAux on May 13, 2007, 04:23:40 AM
Okay, anybody got any great ideas about missions (ES or otherwise) that other agencies would be willing to reimburse CAP for flying?  Got to put those hours on the planes!

Some obvious examples that receive periodic discussion are SAR missions in which local sheriffs or others call in CAP for help (such as Iowa Wing has managed to get a lot of lately) or missions tracking wildlife for state agencies or universities.

No, no, no. CAP does not "buzz" anyone's house. CAP makes "low altitude visual search tracks". >:D

Fire spotting for the Forestry Department (NOT FIRE FIGHTING ALO).

Any sort of wild life/shore line/beach front surveys for universities or ecological departments or groups.

Traffic spotting, accident reporting...like you local TV traffic report.

Lots of law enforcement applications...as previously discussed.
