Post by: Scurtin on March 28, 2011, 04:11:50 AM
Hi all,

Just a quick question, what do you have to do to become a cadet airmen, from a cadet airmen basic?

Thanks,

The first achievement is called the Curry Award:

A good resource every cadet should have on their bedroom bulletin board is the Cadet Super Chart!
It shows every requirement for every cadet grade.

We had he poster sized version framed and hung in our HQ.
I have the 11x17 version hung by my desk.

It's amazing how often it gets referenced.

Here's what our squadron uses:
http://mi183.miwg-cap.org/cadetcontracts/01%202007%20Curry.pdf (http://mi183.miwg-cap.org/cadetcontracts/01%202007%20Curry.pdf)

Cadets just complete the assignments, get the proper signatures, and hand them in to the senior members.

But do all squadrons with cadets use these? I can't find them on eServices or on the gocivilairpatrol.gov under the forms, pubs, and regs section. Is there a form number?

That looks very similar to a national level form that was used in the cadet program during the late '80s and early '90s. This may be a local adaptation. There were pros ansd cons to their use back then. Being just a local form gets past most of the cons.

You can find the rest of those contracts on the "best practices" page on the NHQ CP site.

Personally, I find them to be a large administrative burden and unnecessary.

That was one of the reasons they disappeared from the cadet program.

Ohh I see, thanks. Personally I think they're good for keeping track of what you did and need to do in an organized manner. As a cadet, they're the only way of promotion that i've seen, and the getting the signatures on my part isn't hard but I don't know about the senior side.

So how do other squadrons keep track of their cadets passing the requirements to promote?

The cadets in my squadron just print a copy of the Cadet Super Chart, linked above, and cross off stuff when they've completed it.

On the actual recording of what they've done, it's done in the "Cadet Promotions Utility" in eServices.  Once a month, the personnel officer will print a copy of the "Cadet Tracking Report" and post it on the bulletin board.

I think the cadets can print it themselves now. I'll have to have one of mine log in tomorrow and let me look to verify though.

NHQ prefers that the 'Cadet Promotions' Application module of eServices be used, but it may be done with CAPF 66 as well.

In our unit, and I have to imagine most every other,  the "Cadet Master Record", CAPF 66 - is in each file and annotated with the results as they pass. It also provides for a nice backup system incase records vanish online, or don't get entered.
