Would anyone know when CAP National Headquarters started numbering:

1) the Billy Mitchell Award,

and

2) the Amelia Earhart Award?

I'm pretty sure they always did.

They even assigned numbers to the old Certificate of Proficiency, IIRC.

Neither my Mitchell nor Earhart awards are numbered.  I got them in the 1960s.

Numbering began on the current Mitchell and Earhart certificates in January 1979. Prior to that, they were unnumbered.

They also don't number the ones that people call in for...

"Well, I was a cadet before the Eaker existed and I want an Eaker certificate..." kind of calls.

In a few months I should be able to tell you exactly when they started...

Eaker award certificates began to be issued around 2002.  (Someone correct me if I'm wrong.) If you furnished proof to NHQ CAP that you completed all achievements of the cadet program (before taking the Spaatz) prior to the introduction of the Eaker, you're issued an unnumbered (or in this case, numbered 0) certificate.

IIRC, I got my Eaker in 1999.  The date on eServices is 14 Jul 1995.  There is no number associated with it.  Looking on eServices, I also see that my Mitchell number isn't listed.  Anyone know where I can get that and new copies of all of my certificates (destroyed during car crash)?

Earhart began numbering in 1979 (hence the very low number on mine).

Does anyone have any more details (eg. what CAP Regulation) where getting an un-numbered Eaker Award (upon completion of the Spaatz) might be discussed?

As far as I can remember there's no specific reg cite; not a problem since you've earned the Spaatz. Contact Jennifer Carroll at NHQ CAP (jcarroll@capnhq.gov) for more info.

Look Here

Got mine in days. Fortunately, National had my Eaker already posted so I only had to request it.

I seem to recall that when I was a cadet. Our Cadet Commander received one of the first Earhart's and stated that it was number 14 in the nation. This was in 1965. Could they have been numbering them and than stopped the practice only to restart again??

Something like that would have to have happened.

I'm #302 in Dec of 79 and Captain Corway has #1257 sometime in 1982, works out pretty close to about 300 a year.
