I just graduated BGSAR at NESA and saw pretty much all of the instructors wear the ES dog patch along with their ground team badge, am I allowed to wear that patch? I've looked for a clear answer but haven't seen anything. Thank you!

You will be qualified to request it after NESA staff logs the completion of your ES qualification on your Ops Qual record. They may have already posted you qualify for it. However ask your squadron staff, specifically your ES Officer or your squadron commander. They should be the people to answer your question.

Once you have GES and one other qualification(MRO, GTM, etc) you will be able to request authorization to wear the ES patch via E-Services. You can wear either the dog patch or the Plane patch. They are both equally authorized, and equally respectable. Don't let anyone tell you which one to wear just because of their feelings towards one vs the other.  ::)

It also qualifies the wearer to an atomic wedgie in perpetuity.

Anyone know why there's two different patches available for ES?

Because people liking either are evenly divided on which one is best... or nicer...

Sorry I was a bit vague, I mean all the cadet instructors in BGSAR.

Diego-

Did you post earlier as "iicookieiiz?"

If so, in the future don't change names when people are sending you messages...  ;D

How did you find NESA? Was it fun?

If you have ABUs then neither ES patch is authorized.  Only the BDU and BBDU can have the patch.

Yes I did change my name, I apologize for any confusion I gave you. NESA was a lot of fun! It was definitely a mental and physical challenge as we were in the field for most of the day and constantly working, but I enjoyed it.

The other one gets you Wet Willie's.

Cadets like patches is the explanation.

That is good to hear.  Exactly what we strive for.

As for the patch, you should be able to wear it.  All tasks and ratings from this year's activity have already been uploaded into OpsQuals.  However, just because you can wear it does not mean you have to.  Many of us are minimalists - we only wear what is required.   In my opinion, neither patch looks good, and is redundant if you are wearing your rating badge.  Eclipse does have a point.
