PACAPSM

Hello all!

Was wondering: I know the regs state that MLOs can be appointed as 2nd Lt.  I guess they are also considered apart of the chaplaincy track.  My commander feels that I would fit in very nicely as the MLO for the unit due to me education, background and training.  I have no problem with this, as I would like to serve wherever I'm needed as long as I can earn my "wings" too (either glider pilot or observer).  My commander feels that I am well qualified, and come in higher than a "butter bar", maybe even Captain.  Is this possible?  Also, I have no ecclesiatical endorsement.  Is that a problem?

Thanks all!  Any suggestions woul dbe greatly appreciated.

CAPR 35-5 and CAPR 265-1 state that with 60 hours of college credit beyond high school you can be appointed an MLO with a grade of 2nd Lt......this basicly means you don't have to be a SM for 6 months. There is NO advancements other then under normal senior membership requirements.

MLO's are part of the Chaplain Service but are NOT chaplains. If your unit has no chaplain, make sure you get into contact with your Wing Chaplain as you start the process to become an MLO.....good luck.
