Title: COVID Airplane Stand Down?
Post by: etodd on December 04, 2020, 06:58:14 PM
Got word that the FAA is not letting us use the airplanes for the Covid mission? Is this related to our commercial exemption having run out or something else?

Yes, our exemption was allowed to expire. We have to renew it every two years.
Don't know if it was on the CAP end or on the FAA end.

Thats the old news from a few weeks ago. But we were still able to fly missions under certain circumstances. But it seems that ability just disappeared in the last day or two.

What happened just now?

The system just caught up to reality?  It could be something just in your wing because there's been no changes out here in California. We're still playing target for the F-15's.

The restriction was only for pilots having only a PPC and/or 3rd class medical. Anyone having a commercial certificate and 2nd class medical or above was not affected.
