Hey folks, updated the forum to a more modern version... similar but pretty much everything is new. Please reply here if you see any issues.

Of note, we now have "Likes" and "Mentions" along with notifications. Poke around in your user profile (menu very top of the page) for some new setting options.

It definitely will take getting used to—especially when the site has looked the same way for 15 years (yes, that's correct).

Thanks, Jerry!

Thanks! I hate it.

Just kidding. Been a while since I've used this forum layout, but it's an improvement!

In case its just my computer, here is a screenshot.  Text is thin and possibly gray instead of black. Fuzzy edges. No contrast. Even the bold print word Administrator is funky:

Thank you, the stylesheet is definitely a little funky on the desktop view. I'll see what I can do about that.  Mobile view seems to look ok though.

As with any change to a forum/website/application, etc, once you've become accustomed to the interface, any change (and I do mean ANY) is a huge "boulder in the pond" to everybody.

Even when we were running CadetStuff, when phpBB changed from v2 to v3, it engendered a change to the default theme (some were running that, others were running our custom theme) and also rendered the custom theme inop for a period.  Took some doing, but we got the theme back to like 90% of what it was and told folks "Deal with it" for the rest. Because we weren't professional theme developers and web hosters. It was a fun lark in addition to our day jobs.

And even if we were, see the aforementioned "everybody" who will have problems with ANY change.

There is an alternative theme available if one is so inclined.

I did notice that the muting function seems to actually work now.
Is there any way to mute threads?

Progress update... Tapatalk is working again.  However, I see that the search function is borked. That might remain broken until tomorrow though.  edit: tweaked a few things, and search is working. Perhaps not as efficiently as possible, but working.

You mean like not clicking on it?  Not really sure what the purpose would be, unless you're talking about not seeing the unread post(s) icon. If that's the case... sorry, no.

Try Profile>>Notifications>>Watched Board/Watched Topic.

I've never once been notified of any topics or boards being updated, so if it's not that, I don't know.

Yeah - lots of options for notifications, but nothing for muting a thread or topic.

Thanks for the efforts. But I am noticing a quirk.

I'm using Tapatalk on an iPhone X. In e Rey discussion, I see a comment, followed by others, but then comes the first comment and the others all over again.

??

I'm getting the same thing.

Also, the NCO thread in the membership forum doesn't show up at all for me on Tapatalk.

And I have no idea how to logon to the site itself now. I see an option to sign up for a new account, but not to sign in to an existing one.

Excellent!  Definitely didn't see it before.

For a few days the fonts were looking better. Type was black and not so thin.  Now its back to where we started. Very hard to read on a computer screen. A 'little' better on a phone.

Someone changed something. Much easier to read.  Thanks!!!!!

For some reason I am getting an error message when trying to log in via Chrome. The CT window popup just has the one word message "error", that's all.

Any help here?

Thanks

I use Tapatalk for about 95% of my use here. I still see a LOT of post duplicates. If I go to a topic, the posts start with the first one, every time. I have to scroll past weeks, even months of posts to find the new ones. Then, after the new ones, the entire thread starts all over again.

I access a lot of forums with Tapatalk. This is the only one where I have this problem.

Using Chrome on my laptop as we speak, and no difficulties.

However comma various threads on Tapatalk on my Android phone have been borked, this one included. Another was the PD thread. When you scroll to the bottom of this one, the post counter will show that you are looking at post 46 of 36, while the post number in the post is 46. The PD thread was also like that, but today is behaving nicely.

I am responding to post #13 from Pylon, who asked if the numbering was any better.

1). The quoted text that I can see is NIT the text from #13.

2). I kept reading posts after 13, got to 17, which was from a few hours. The next post was #11, from January.

3). Following the posts from there I got to a different post 13, which led to a different 17.

It's pretty messed up.
