Just curious. . . again

My favorite is Metallica's cover of 1980's "Am I Evil" by Diamond Head. Their cover of the Misfits' 1978 "Last Caress" is a close second.

As to the caps you mentioned, the good 'ol patrol cap works for me.  Hardly ever a need for anything else.
What's up with the cowboy hat?

Who said this was strictly for CAP???  I love my boonie caps but don't use them for CAP- not another discussion on this please- I wear patrol for that.  Some people live in Texas, and could be preferred.

Well, you never said strictly either way. Referring to a non-military-uniform hat as a "cover" is just plain silly. So to me, the context of this thread alludes you are referring to CAP. After all, this is CAP Talk, and you posted in the Uniforms forum.

Didn't you?

For CAP: BDU Cap (PC)

In civies: ballcap

Army: PC or anything but the beanie (nice thing about Aviation, not going to wear a hat most of the time)

Sorry, I use "cover" to mean any type of head cover- excepting Kevlar, and any other normal use of the term "cover"

I love the look of the flight cap, but hardly anybody can make them look as good as these guys did:

But then again, they were a generation of well-dressed and classy men.

The uniforms were just plain classier, as was the time period.

^ No, see you need to have pictures of Airborne Infantryman in garrison caps circa 1944.

Edit:  In reference to Pylons pic above.

They also left out watch-caps.

Go figure, headger that actually keeps your head warm  :o

They also left out fez hats!  And shakos, crowns, zucchetos, laurel wreaths, birettas, and Imperial German spiked helmets...  8)

I like this for the TPU. Goes well with the silver sleeve braid

If I'm outside I have my Boonie on. It provides the shade I need for my neck and head.  Also it light and easily washed.

Practical, but frowned upon by our 'sponsors.'

You know, it's quite conceivable after 2011 when the ABU becomes mandatory for USAF wear, that the BDU will in-effect become a CAP-distinctive uniform, with all the rights & privileges thereto. . .

Do they make zucchetos in woodland camo??  ;)

I had an Orthodox Jewish cadet in my flight as a TAC officer once, who had a woodland camo yarmulke... so I don't think a zuccheto could be far off.  The more important question is:  What ecclesiastical level would woodland denote?   ??? :D

Believe it or not, in my fomer life, I recall Army Chaplains giving services in the field with camo vestments.  Reminded me of the Chaplain wearing the poncho-liner in the surreal battle scene of 'Apocalypse Now.'

BTW, I'm the "No Cover" voter.  I personally can't stand wearing hats.
