Hi there, so not to long ago I cut my hair and I took a photo and uploaded it to Facebook. It wasnt inappropriate or anything, just me and my face. I wanted to show my friends EXACTLY how short I cut it (they have all seen me in my uniform, long story short they were at an event we were doing security for) and so I buttoned the top button. Just recently someone said I have to remove the photo because "it's not regulations". Is the top button being buttoned a violation of regulation?

Without knowing what uniform you were wearing it's hard to say.

Thatcappersonyouknow

OH Sorry. I was wearing my BDUS.

Thatcappersonyouknow

And it's that cap person you know. Sorry.

Eclipse

OK - there's no reg against having the top button closed.

Depending on the activity yes you are out of regs.  For day to day wear you're out of regs.  Now removing a photo is your call or your parents call to make.

Eclipse

What's wrong with the top button being closed?   It looks weird, but I don't see any issue with it.

Thatcappersonyouknow

I only buttoned it for the photo. I don't keep the top button on any uniform, blues or bdus, unless I'm wearing a tie with the blues.

Thatcappersonyouknow

I was told to remove it because its against cap reg photos.

Was this another cadet who told you that?

a2capt

When someone says "It's against the regulations", ask for a cite, and what specifically is being called out.

If they respond with "I was told .. " or "I heard.." repeat your request.

Thatcappersonyouknow

Yes it was another cadet, a HIGHER ranking cadet, and thanks for the help guys. Imma ask what exactly is against the regs.

Eclipse

"A higher ranking cadet" should be a category on Snopes.

So you were uploading a CAP photo, or simply a photo to show off your new haircut? If it's the latter, than that senior cadet has no business telling you not to upload it. If on the other hand you used your CAP BDUs to show how one's hair should be cut in order to be within CAP regs, then the other cadet has a bit more ground to stand on, but still not much. If you notice, for items such as the cold weather outerwear garments for the service uniform, it specifies that the top button can be buttoned or unbuttoned. But for the BDU shirt it is not specified one way or another. Yes the pictures show unbuttoned, and one could argue the "not specified, don't do it" side of 39-1, but still, apply some common sense.

Vernacular for "I will", I use it myself now and then but I still don't get how it became what it has.

If by chance you're telling me he meant to say "I'm going to..." then why didn't he just say that?

Imma Gunna?

Wasn't she the lady who used to run that FBO out in Salina, Kansas? Had an old 150 with a 172 engine and a 172 with a 182 left wing, used to fuel up from 5 gallon cans and also worked as head flipper for the flapjacks at the cafe? I remember her!

I always thought that buttons that were not intentioned to ever be buttoned make no sense.  Dumbest clothing concept next to neckties.

Even though I am not a cadet, the next time I see "Cite, please", I will be tempted to reply "A higher ranking cadet".  Serious dudes, imma gonna do it.

And you will be called on it too. So why stir up a fuss?

It only takes a few minutes to download the CAP Regs and Manuals to a tablet or computer. Then when someone says " ... The reg say..."  You can ask them to show you.

Just making an observation on what will happen if you did do that. Never said anything about me doing it.
