Hello, history experts! I'm looking for info about a long since defunct Michigan Wing Ranger School. What I do know (or have at least been told) is that it was around during the late 70s, and during that time was held at Drummond Island. Graduates wore black berets. There was also a ranger unit in the Pontiac area. Does anyone out there have information/pictures, etc on this?
Unfortunately the majority of the information regarding that activity remains, to this day,
restricted under Executive Order 13526.

There are a few people around still who were there.

If only there was someone like that around here who could post some sort of chronicle detailing the aforementioned classified school. Maybe they could call it 'Drummond Island: Here's What Happened'. Nah, that's a stupid name.

Yea, I read something like that, but I believe it's classified now.

Hmmm... I thought the archive links still worked. Lemme ask around.
What is Executive Order 13526? and why would affect cap?

There's some
clown guy in your wing named Ninness. Ask him. Tell him Major Malfunction said you could.
OK, here are good links for the complete Drummond Island: Declassified, thanks to The Wayback Machine.
From the bottom of every page in the saga:
Editor's note: The activities described in this series happened during a different period in the history of CAP and the nation. With this in mind, please use good judgment while reading the accounts presented here: consider their historical context and the onus of current Civil Air Patrol regulations. CadetStuff neither condones nor condemns the activities of the 77th Ranger Support Unit; we are merely reporting them in the context of what we can learn from past events and experiences.

SarDragon, when I try to access those links I get a Page Not Found error. Looking at the URLs I see all of them start with "http://%20/https//" and I think it's giving my browser fits.
Delete the beginning portion of the URL with the 20% and insert a colon between the https and the //. That's what worked for me.
OK, I think they're fixed now. Not sure what happened. It looks like SMF sdded the extra front end for the URLs.
Drummond Island Declassified is absolutely my favorite thing every produced in CAP. Has to have been 10-ish years, but I actually printed out each and every piece of that ongoing article.
