Radio Software

One of the senior members in my squadron saw me struggling with trying to understand what someone was saying on the NET the other night. He mentioned that there is a piece of software that tries to translate what is being said over the radio. Its some kind of voice recognition software. Can anyone tell if said senior member is making a joke or if this wonderful piece of software truly does exist. If it does exist, how do i get my hands on it?
