Another boot question-Style

Simple question, but the regs PDF from NHQ was a bit vague...

For BDUs, do combat boots have to be the traditional, smooth, all leather style or can I buy a pair that has some "panels" (for lack of a better word) like the one attached? I'm finding more selection in wide widths in that style than the traditional kind.

If the panels are not leather, I believe they would be unacceptable on a flight crew.   They need to be all leather.

Not on a flight crew, but I don't know if that's in the future or not. Our squadron doesn't have any pilots right now.

There are similar boots that are rated safe for flight by the military.

The boots pictured are very similar to the current issue Infantry Combat Boots you would find at MCSS.  I'd say they would be acceptable to wear with BDUs or the Field and Utility Uniform.

From 39-1, under footwear for BDU's, the mention the classic combat boot.  They also have the following for Hot-weather Tropical:

Green or black cloth, or canvas and black leather with plain toe with
zipper or elastic inserts.

So, it looks to me like those pictured would be okay.
