Title: 101 Card - New Format?
Post by: Chappy on October 09, 2007, 05:48:20 PM
I just looked at the 101 card and they have either changed the format or they have a problem with the program.  Your picture is moved over to the left with your name and characteristics next to it.  Has any one heard about this change?

I didn't hear anything about it, but I did notice it myself a few days ago. Kinda looks better in my own personal opinion.

While I do like that they included the characteristics, I preferred the symmetry of having the pic in the center. Perhaps if they rotated it to a landscape format rather than portrait.

This new format does make it easier to read the name.  Although they still haven't fixed the "auto-squish" mode for the pictures.

Does anyone know if there has been a date that the new card has to be printed out?

On the bottom of the card it says.....

"CAP Form 101(E) May01 OPR/Routing: DOS Prev. Edit will not be used after 31 Oct 01"

IOW.....Same card, new look..

Well that works. So now I won't be in such a rush to print out a new card since nothing has changed.

Look again, I now indicates wither you are cleared for CD work or not.  The intention is to do away with the separate CD card and I01 card. Things have now gone full circle to pre CAPR 60-3 with CD credentials on the card again.

I love NHQ's ability to just add things to items that in theory are controlled by some sort of documentation standard... Or am I mistaken that HQ can just change forms when the feel like it?

It seem that they can. There is nothing wrong with the latest changes, so why get bothered by it?

I think it's more aesthetically pleasing. Kinda like a drivers license, you can compare the personal stats to the picture right next to it.

I concur on the change, I do think it looks a bit better, however, why just a sudden change?  I know for a fact (for the most part) NHQ has reasons for changing (no matter how silly they may be), I'm just wondering why the change?  Is it perhaps to correspond with their sudden, un-officiated changes to the SQTRs without a change to 60-3?

When the forms and SQTR's where part of the CAPR 60-4 series, NHQ found that when they needed to change training requirements they could not do so, with out the entire National Board voting on it.  By eliminating those regulations, it allowed the staff to be more nimble in addressing issues like NIMS compliance and adding commander approval before proceeding to the next step.  It also allows them to change the ICS forms to comply with NIMS also without having to get the boards approval.
