Title: Vanguard Sewing ?
Post by: Shuman 14 on April 10, 2023, 04:55:55 PM
Does Vanguard offer a sewing service? Meaning will they sew on name tapes, CAP Tapes, ranks, etc. on their uniforms products (i.e. ABUs, Blue BDUs, Patrol Caps, etc.) if you buy it all from them?

I've not seen it offered anywhere.  Considering the "quality" of some of their items, would you trust them to do it right?

One of the best things my mother did for me was sit me in front of the sewing machine and teach me how to use it.  Been sewing my own stuff (and for others) since I was a 13 year old cadet.  Burned up two sewing machines since, but I know it's done right when I do it myself.

I know a guy who does this. Solid work. He's done work for the "pointy bois and girls" if you take my meaning.

I know the guy.  ;)  He does bang-up work. Postage was a struggle, but we worked it out.

Having items sewn onto your brand new uniform without washing the items to be sewn and the new uniform asks for tons of 'puckers!' Just my observation of over 25 years of military service and 28 years as a CAP senior member. Wash everything FIRST!

That's true for Field Blouses (BDU, ACU, OCP, ABU, BBDU) and for us old timers that still sew a nametape above the left rear pocket of our trousers, but I was thinking more of the patrol cap, since CAP doesn't allow pin-on metal rank as an option and civilian seamstresses don't always understand the placement of the rank, I thought it might just be easier order a hat with rank sewn on. Plus I normally don't wash the hat until the 10,000 mile oil change mark.  ;D
