13JAN18-

Over this past weekend Pacific Region Commanders convened in Kauai, HI for the annual Commanders Call. However, little did they know their professionalism and training would be put to the test. Approximately 0607hrs [PST] the state of Hawaii (HI) received an alarming alert from Hawaii's Emergency Management Agencies. The alert stated:

"BALLISTIC MISSILE THREAT INBOUND TO HAWAII. SEEK IMMEDIATE SHELTER. THIS IS NOT A DRILL."

The meeting came to sudden halt once the Commanders of Pacific Region came to a consensus of the situation, and incident developing. Pacific Region Vice Commander Colonel Tim Hahn immediately turned the hotel into a mission base by organizing an Incident Command Team based on the Incident Command System (ICS) structure. Everyone on site played a part to assist with the airman and panicked civilians at the hotel. Colonel Jeff Wong (HIWG CC), Emergency Services Director of Hawaii, assisted Col Hahn for the duration of the incident to organize a shelter and keep hundreds of people calm during this incident. Once the alert was deemed false operations were back to normal, and the meeting continued. Please take a moment to recognize the commanders of our Pacific Region, and learn from the professionalism, dedication, and leadership displayed by our very own. Semper Vigilans, Always Vigilant!
