Lt. Col. Ruth O. Buslinger
Danville Composite Squadron
Virginia Wing

Ruth Ochs Buslinger (Dec 6, 1956 - Aug 27, 2023) left us to be with her Lord after a brief illness.  Loving wife to her husband David of 45 years and mother to her three children, Lauren Buslinger (Col. David Newman, USA res.), Kirsten Ornelas (Maj. Theodore Ornelas, USAF act.) and Will Buslinger. She is daughter of Robert (dec.) and Helene Ochs (King) and was a native of and raised in Miami, FL. Ruth was a life-long educator in Special Education and for Visual and Hearing Impaired children.  She especially loved working in children's ministries in many churches throughout her life.

She and her family have been living in rural Caswell County North Carolina for the last 30 years, enjoying our hobby farm. She raised many a farm animal and advocated for and supported FFA and 4H.

Ruth was a Lt. Colonel in the Virginia Wing of the Civil Air Patrol, and worked tirelessly in the Cadet Programs of CAP at the Virginia Wing and the Danville Composite Squadron for the past 20 years. She has been a crucial player in the honor guard training and summer encampments at the wing and national level and considered it an honor to serve our Community, State, and Nation. Her children, by her example, do so as well.

Ruth is survived by her brother Jim Ochs and wife Marie, and sister, Mary Bullington and husband Brooks, and grandchildren: Clara Newman, Alice Ornelas, and Dorothy Ornelas and many nephews and nieces in Florida and North Carolina and elsewhere, whom she dearly loved.

Those who knew her by her smile, her wisdom, her talented voice, and love of God, country and family will miss her. Now we can join heaven singing praises at the passing of this beautiful soul. For her love of life and her Savior, she honored Him and ourselves by her just acts, tender mercies, and walking humbly with Him (Micah 6:8 ).
