Title: Unfunded SAREX exercises
Post by: RVT on April 08, 2011, 09:45:26 PM
We are looking at how to doa training SAREX wihout funding.  Main question seems to be how to breakdown the cost of the aircraft.  Before I make a proposal on how to do this I would like to know how its been done before.

Just as a starting point I would say the two pilots split the cost of the aircraft itself, and the entire crew divides up the fuel cost.

Thats probably just as good as any.  Also seen all cost split equally.

In the case of unfunded-ness, I've always just split by the occupants. Period. Sure, the pilot logs time, the scanner hasn't anything to do with all that, but in the end- thats what it costs to spin the prop to put the whole crew in the air. Everyone gets something out of it.

Thats if I'm flying the plane, or I'm sitting in the back seat.

I agree on that, too. Whenever we've done that type of flying, the cost is spread out among the crew equally. Once in a while, if there is just two of us, one of us will pay for the plane, and the other will get the gas, as long as the difference isn't more than a few dollars.
