Has anyone seen an online version of the safety stats presented at the National Board?  There were some really amazing drops in accidents.  Evidently they are also moving towards an online reporting system that will attempt to standardize descriptions of accidents to make tracking easier.  Also they said something about having a non-reportable accident category rather than the report-everything requirement we have now.

Of course the obvious question is whether the drop in accidents is due to anything we've done or whether it is just a normal random change in stats.

I have not seen them. Does anyone know where they can be found?

Until a year or two ago, national HQ had a full time employee devoted to safety. He would create the statistics graphics each year, make a PowerPoint presentation out of them (with pictures of several of the accidents), and give it at the NB meetings. Then loca/wing/region safety officers could download the presentation off of the National HQ web site (safety page) and use the graphs and/or pictures in their local safety briefings.

Currently, however, the most recent statistics available on the safety page of the National HQ web site are those from November 2005.

Regarding the online safety reporting system: it is currently operational - every CAP member has access to the online CAPF 78 in e-services. Starting August 1, mishaps will be reported ONLY online - no more paper CAPF78s or 79s.

I think the new system will help in this area.
