The National Staff Badge is not available for purchase on the website.  Call Vanguard's CAP number 1-800-221-1264 and (once they verify that you are on the "official list") they will let you order the badge over the phone.  The metal badge comes in both regular and miniature sizes.  There is also a cloth version of the badge for utility uniforms.

Oh for crying out loud.  Just go with the blue BDU and make it easy.

What happened to the National Staff Badge?  It is still listed in 39-1 but I can't find the badge on Vanguard.

We put a clause in CAPR 39-1 that within 5-years of any uniform change by the USAF, it will be adopted, with appropriate CAP modification, by CAP.

The Principal or the Superintendent of Schools would qualify as a "local dignitary" so if they're on board, I would go with them. It's good press for your squadron and the School District.

Earhart Award - Wing Commander, elected official, or dignitary of similar stature
Eaker Award - Region Commander, elected official, or dignitary of similar stature
Spaatz Award - National Commander, National Vice Commander, other CAP general officer, military flag officer, governor, member of Congress, or dignitary of similarly high stature
