I know about the chart in the back of the CPFT Manual. But can someone give me all the info needed for each color and everything assosiated with it. I am wanting to make a chart showing all of the Colors of the system, the temperature range, work load allowed (examples of what is allowed to be done ), water consumption rate.

I am looking for something a little more expanded than what is on the chart in the CPFT Manual. If I need to use what is there thats fine, just want to make sure what is required or reccommended on something like that.

Try this

http://www.nablc.navy.mil/safety/Misc/HeatStress_LC.ppt#323,6,Heat%20Stress%20Flag%20Colors

It's a PowerPoint, but the slide highlighted by the link has all the flag info.

Actually, looking at the CPFT Manual, that's more expanded than anything I've seen so far...

what do you reccomend then? Go with that chart in the CPFT manual?

They only use four colors, we have 6

I would, personally. I've noticed through searching that not everyone has the same standards either, as it seems the Marines have a different standard.

The CAP publication seems to be the most relevant, as well as the most in depth.

Honestly, aside from maybe making a chart in color or something, I would just make that page in the pamphlet my Chart. It seems all inclusive... Let us know what you whip up!

I just want to make a chart, and have the colors there so there is no confusion. I am making a poster on poster board that is goiong to be posted in the different rooms and that way who ever is in charge of an activity in one of the rooms, When they recieve a weather update over the Radio they will have all the info they need to take the appropiriate actions.

Dutchboy

if any one has info they have used at a encampment that might be helpful also.

Actually, since the Wet Bulb Globe Temp is rarely reported by Radio, you might want to look elsewhere for the appropriate info.

When I say radio, that would be the Safety officer issing the updates from info gathered.

Got it.

In any case, WBGT can closely be calculated with a formula found here.

It's bascially Temp- ((Temp-Dewpt)/3)

You might want to take a look at this sight: http://chppm-www.apgea.army.mil/documents/TBMEDS/tbmed507.pdf

The bottom line though is you must have some method or source for obtaining the Wet Bulb reading.  On most Army/NG posts  wet bulb readings are available through Range Control.

If you go to the wikipedia page above and scroll towards the bottom there is a section with references.  One reference is a AF pamphlet.  In the appendix of that pamphlet there are multiple charts about what flag is used for what conditions and there is also a chart talking about what type of activities can be done, and for how long, under each type of conditions.

I saw this chart today and thought this might be exactly what the OP was looking for.

I spent a few hours figuring out an Excel plug and chug calculator for the WBGT with the formula from my post above.

Any Meteorologist types out there, the formula is NOT skew T based, it's simply

T-((T-D)/3)=WBGT, where T= Temp, and D= Dewpoint

I can't post it, however, since it is a .xls file. Can anyone host it or mods can you make it postable?

I could post it on my web site for you.

You can attach .zip files.  So zip it up and put it up :)

Last time this came up I just ran the file through PrimoPDF.  Dunno if you have that kind of option on a Mac.

I right-clicked the file, clicked "Compress ______", and it was done, very quick, very effective.
