Our flight comm has repeatedly asked when CAP was demilitarized. He keeps telling us different dates. Does anyone know the exact date CAP was demilitarized?

CAP has never been a military service, so whatever he is referring to is probably either trying to
make some sideways political point or is a misinterpretation of the concept.

The Board of Governors was established in 2001 after a number of contentious issues between CAP
leadership and USAF leadership which resulted in the USAF having much less day-to-day involvement.

Beyond that, it was established by charter to be of "benevolent character", never intended to be a combatant.

I mean when they stopped doing coastal patrols after WWII. Isn't it like 1947 or 1946?

A - Why didn't you ask the actual question the first round?

B - Why is your Flight CC asking this?  For the leadership tests?

1. That is what I was asking, I just worded it different.

2. Our squadron whenever the flights are waiting for closing/opening, we do general knowledge questions. This just happened to be one of them

If it's an appropriate general knowledge question, then the answer would be in your texts.

if he means the date around which CAP's HQ stopped being staffed by USAF personnel and became more "CAP, Inc" with paid civilian staff, that was circa 1994.

The time before that date is whimsically known by us old-timers as, "The Good Old Days."
