I've searched every nook and cranny in the internet world it seems, asked members of my squadron, and I still am getting a huge void of information about 2006 Oklahoma Wing Encampment.

My main question is:  What is the deadline for applying?  The only hint I have found is at the very bottom of CAP F31, the application, it says that a third copy of the application must be sent to headquarters by 31 January.  However, this form's date says it was made in November of 96.

I just joined CAP.  Does anyone know of a way for me to attend encampment this year, or is it simply too late?

Captain Russell M. Davis is listed as the 2006 Oklahoma Wing Encampment Commander and Project Officer.  His email address is commander.ok074@earthlink.net

You may wish to fire off an e-mail to him for information.   OK Wing is a little tough to get information from until it's almost too late though it seems to be slowly getting a little better.

They should really stop calling first time attendees that.  Why not call them Trainee like they do at Lackland?

Here is some additional information I received today from the Oklahoma Wing.

David Romere, 1Lt CAP
Starbase Composite Squadron, OK-151

All,

For those cadets wishing to attend the Oklahoma Wing Encampment:

Dates:  Staff reports in on 24-June-2006 between 08:00 and 10:00
All others report in on 25-June-2006 between 12:00 and 16:00.

Costs:  $100 per person.  $50 deposit required with each application.

Important dates:  Deadline for applicant's CAPF31's to be at the wing
31-May-06.

The CAPF31's require the cadet's signature, the parent's signature(s)
as well as witnesses signature(s).  Then the squadron commander has to
sign them as well BEFORE they are sent to Wing.

Hopefully this event will be posted to the OKWG web site in short
order.

I also heard something about working an air show during encampment.  A "first" for an encampment, as they said, but I don't have any listed air shows in Oklahoma those dates.  Does anyone know about this?

Also, is there an oklahoma-specific packing list or anything or is it fairly generic?  I've never gone to an encampment so I don't know what to and what not to bring.  Could you offer suggestions?

The Star Spangled Salute Airshow will be held at Tinker AFB over the forth of July weekend.  The word I heard at the wing conference was that the encampment cadets would be participating at the airshow.

As for the encampment supplies list, I have a "pdf" file from the encampment commander (I just received it today).  I don't think we can post files here so if you want to drop me an email, I can forward it to you.  My email address is :

You can attach files here (if it's not too large.)  When you post click on "Additional Options."

Thanks for the list! I'm in the OK Wing too.  I'm going to encampment this summer as well.

See you there, cadetnelson.
