Shocking aerial photos show impact of fire which ripped across Simonside

Aerial footage, captured by a volunteer pilot for the Civil Air Patrol conducting a solo maintenance flight, shows how flames left a dark patch over the landscape.

Pilot Storm Smith, who took the photos, described the damage as "an enormous black scar across the top of the hill."
