Title: Mission Scanner // Air Crew Badge // Leadership Award // Level Two PDP
Post by: Shuman 14 on August 25, 2021, 06:39:16 PM
If a member completes the certification/training/qualification to be a Mission Scanner are they awarded Air Crew Wings at the end of the qualification process or are additional flight hours (or other requirements) needed for the award of the AC Badge?

Is a Mission Scanner Qualification considered a Technician Rating for purposes of awarding the Leadership Ribbon and completing a Technician Rating for Level Two Professional Development Program requirements?

Thanks in advance for any responses.

You can add it by checking the CAP Aircrew Rating box in the "Ratings, Awards & Badges" section of Ops Quals.

Nope!

First off, thank you for responding.

As to your response to my first question (quoted above) I assume that means "YES" the Mission Scanner qualification itself is all you need for award of AC Wings?

As to the second question, I was not sure, thank you for the clarification.

The requirements for the CAP Aircrew Rating (which implies the authorization to wear the wings) are described in CAPR 35-6 section 1(j). Being a qualified Mission Scanner suffices. Additional flight hour requirements do apply for the Senior and Master Aircrew Ratings as described in section 1(k) and 1(l).

I will point out, if you are going for a Technician Rating in Emergency Services, one of the requirements is to gain an operations qualification, one of which is Mission Scanner. That is one out of a total of 21 tasks required for the Tech Rating in ES, so it can help you toward that rating, but won't automatically get you a tech rating.
