Seems like a premature and unfounded if not absurd conclusion.  What do you base it on?

"Sarah Chantal Rovner was piloting a Civil Air Patrol-owned Cessna 172 jet from West Houston Airport to Lone Star Executive Airport in nearby Conroe, Texas, on Tuesday when she reported losing aircraft power."

You think their jet had a propeller stuck in it too?   Great job btw.

That is the special variant X-70.

It has a hidden jet engine.

She lost power as both engines failed.

Both Steve Atkins and Don Poe are longtime CAP members from the UP group.  I haven't seen Steve in many years, but I recall him to be a rather capable aviator.

Do we have a policy on Civil Air Patrol members talking to the press directly about incidents like this?

Don't forget: this is the UP of Michigan.  Steve is probably related to the reporter. :)  Besides, that article had more typos and grammatical errors than your average Armstrong essay.

Wing CC sent an email out after this, joking that we should expect a "The importance of a functioning carburetor float" breakout session from these two at Wing Conference this year.  ;D

"Runways? We don't need no runways!"

Glad these guys landed safely with no injuries. Aside from the engine failure, the bird is fine with no other damage.

Sarah, great job.  I have to ask though, was that N54872 that you were flying?
