What is everyone's opinion of the new e-services Safety Management System? So far to me, it looks like a good setup, it seems to bring everything together, safety wise...

I'm trying to figure out why they ripped off some logos to put on the menu...

Eclipse

Ripped off?

It's probably just clipart.  Any reason to believe it's not properly licensed?

Unless OpenOffice.org, Mozilla, and Apple are letting us use their artwork...

The one on the right, three down looks really familiar too but I can't quite figure it out.

Eclipse

If they are part of OpenOffice, they are likely under an open license like the CCL.

Are some of those Apple icons (only a hippie would really know).

Left row, 4 down is the Mozilla Thunderbird logo (though as you said it might be under an open license). 6 down is what I think is an old OpenOffice Writer logo, and middle row, 4 down is the Apple Update logo.

I'm positive it's not NHQ's fault, I'm sure they just downloaded an icon set and ran with it. I found the OO.org icon in a set and I'm sure I'll find the other two in the same set.

I guess if the wose thing you can say about it is that they stole some clip art.......then it must be meeting its mission requirments.

In the spirit of not totally derailing this thread...

It doesn't seem like there's anything particularly new or updated, just consolidated into one place.

Linked below are the images that came up with results. The ones not included didn't come up with results (someone should double check them, since I really didn't do a good job cropping).

I stopped at 'safety alerts' because Puush wasn't working for some reason.  >:( >:( :'(

Lots of stuff in one place. My guess it once they formally tell us about the program it will work fine. Everything is in one lace. Tool three of the exams so far. Not difficult, just how to use the system. Too bad they did not update the reg at the same time. It still says use form 78.

AirDX

The whole process of Form 78s and 79s is different - anyone named as witness or participant or whatever will have to go in and do a statement online.  Best to read about it in the SMS courses on the online safety education page (and you get monthly safety credit for doing each module).  There are 5 of them online so far, I've done 4.

You do understand that stealing copyrighted clipart could subject CAP to massive costs, right?  Like a minimum statutory damage amount of $750 (max $150k) per infringement (ie. every time they deliver the image, there's a distinct infringement).

It's not the clipart I'm really concerned about, it's the copyrighted insignia used on top of the clipart.

It looks like AOL and Prodigy circa 1995 were used as the guide for layout. It's using an ungodly amount of screen space to accomplish what should have been a simple thing, and I hope to hell it's not the way the whole thing is headed. It's a step backwards presentational wise.

Uses way more bandwidth than necessary to get the job done.

Oh, and yes, the icons are swiped off a variety of places.
