Lt. Col. Ira V. Hoffman
Minuteman Composite Squadron
Virginia Wing

Ira Vincent Hoffman, Jr., of Culpeper, VA passed away at his residence Friday, February 18, 2022 at the age of 84. Born April 21, 1937 to Ira V. Hoffman, Sr. and Elizabeth Griffith Hoffman, Ira was a Master Carpenter by trade and a General Contractor for his own business, Hoffman Enterprises.

Growing up on a dairy farm as an only child, Ira enjoyed nature and working with his hands doing anything outdoors; gardening was his passion, with many record-breaking prizes over the years with the CMR 4-H Farm Show; he was very active with the Culpeper County Young Farmers and their tractor pulls as well as serving as with the Civil Air Patrol Culpeper Minuteman Squadron for over 40 years where he was a charter member of the Culpeper Minuteman and ended his service as a Lieutenant Colonel. Ira loved planes and flying, trains and antique cars and machinery; he loved collecting memorabilia and was known to always have a mustache and ball cap; was also a great story teller with a high intellect that could talk to anyone at any level of education about world history, local adventures on Skyline Drive and his comical acting and joking adventures in the Pink Ladies Follies back in 'The Day'.

Surviving Ira is his wife of almost fourteen years Daisy Backe Hoffman of Culpeper, VA, his children; David Hoffman and his wife Sarah of Niceville, FL and Linda Wise and her husband Curtis of Amissville, VA, grandchildren; Grace and Thomas Hoffman and Katelyn and Brian Wise and his beloved caregiver over the past six years, Karly Mauck. Other extended family members also survive as well as many community friends.
