The last time I checked, below National Headquarters, there are eight CAP geographic regions known as the Northeast, Middle East, Southeast, Great Lakes, Southwest, North Central, Rocky Mountain, and the Pacific. Some regions have put together some wonderful fact-filled websites useful to the local, state, regional and national membership. I have written to the MER webmaster but my comments must have found the circular file.

quoting from: http://www.mer.cap.gov/

"The Middle East Region Website is back in operation after being down since June 2008.  The site is still under development and not all funtions are working."

With that said, I'd like to nominate the Middle East Region website as the 8th Best regional website!

How would you rate yours?

The last time I saw it, in the summer, the MER site was styled the same as the MD site.

Do you really want to do this?  Because I suspect the answer(s) you get won't be what you expect...

That's what happens when you pay $5,000 dollars to a "volunteer" to move the MDWG website to the MER website and change everything from MDWG to MER.  It also gets you a new MER/CC.

What's a region??  >:D >:D >:D

Boy what a silly question.  A region is a place that makes running a squadron difficult...

I don't believe I heard one iota of this... if you know more, do tell!

As for what I might want to do... I would like to see the MER website to be much more than what it is currently. Granted, it has improved a little over the past month, but it's still only the 8th best regional website. The other regions really do have something to boast about... so go ahead and crow!

And you won't.  But that's one of the reasons why you have a new region commander.  The old commander spent WAY over budget, the region chief of staff and finance officers started an investigation, they were fired, then the commander was fired for firing them and for the inattention to the finance rules (and spending money like a drunken Limey). She was, in my opinion, a crook.  Now, fortunately, you have a good region CC.

CAPPAO

The Southeast Region Web site is one of the best I've seen:

http://www.sercap.us/

In fact, 3 of the 6 Wings in SER have now adopted the same format:

http://new.flwg.gov

http://mswg.us/

http://www.prwg.us/

But for a real treat, check out the SER Twitter page and sign up!

^ I'm not a big fan of the low-resolution screen shot versions of graphics pulled off of the National page.

NHQ should give us (the members) access to the graphic button side bar thingys that they use. You'd think that they would seeing that it would help the lower echelons represent CAP in a more professional light.
