Title: Officer Stripe on Service Coat
Post by: Майор Хаткевич on January 14, 2013, 04:41:53 PM
Was there ever a time it was only for Field Grade Officers?

It's a gray item in the 2005 CAPM 39-1, which I believe it was in 2005, so it's not a recent change is it? In 39-1, it states that all Officers have the stripe.

All officers, including Flight Officers, wear it.

The only ones who do not are SMWOG and NCO's.

I have never known it to be otherwise.  I joined in 1993, and after I got 2nd Lt the stripe went on my service coat.

CAP "Officers" have been wearing the "Commissioning Braid" on their sleeve ever since we went to the Blue Service Dress uniforms.
Just like the Air Force.

It's indicated as added because it just wasn't in 39-1, which then required members to reference 36-2903.

Please see CAPM 39-1, Table 2-1, Line 1.

I'm referring to the pre-2005 version which had no reference to the stripe.

The stripe's been around since I became a senior member in 1970. Perhaps it got left out of the manual inadvertently. It certainly isn't a new item.

I remember talk during the "berry boards" era that the stripe was going to be changed to maroon. :(

The sleeve braid has been on every Service Jacket since 1943.
