New 60-1

There is a new CAPR60-1 out. It is Change 1 to the May 14 version. Some changes to the wind stuff and a few other "clarifications".

There was one change. That was it.

The only change was on page 19, and the sentence there changed from: "(4) For gliders have 100 flights as PIC or be a qualified CFIG." To: "(4) For gliders have 100 flights as PIC or hold at least an FAA commercial glider certificate." This is exactly the change that was authorized by the commander, and no more.

The issue here is, we all  saw the other grayed areas and assumed those were new changes.  They were not – only paragraph 4 on page 19 changed, to liberalize who could qualify as a glider CFIG.The changed regulation should have removed the older grayed out items to remove the confusion about what changed. Are we back to being the Air Force Auxiliary again?

They started that trend with the new CAP Brand Resource Guide, which clearly contradicts CAPR 10-1.

I think their thought was that since it's on the first line (graphic), they shouldn't add "Civil Air Patrol" a second time.
