Cadet and senior insignia

Hi, so I am doing a class on insignia both cadet and senior and I want to include in it why we wear insignia but I am having trouble with coming up with many reasons. So far I have for respect reasons and for chain of command. Any other reasons anyone else can think of would be greatly appreciated!

You may want to include specialty badges and insignias as well...in that they display the various area of expertise that you are trained in -- or assigned to.
