(General) Colgan just got his new ID Card....it says "US Civil Air Patrol" on the front of it in place of the Civil Air Patrol, US Air Force Auxiliary.  What the crap is up with that?  I give up......we are now officially the US Civil Air Patrol.  Anyone else get this new card?  I am disappointed!!

Tedda.   :o

Now given the two options allowed for the name by the CAP Bylaws, I would have preferred option B over the odd option C, which strangely doesn't seem to be listed in the Bylaws.   >:D

Quote2.1 The name of Civil Air Patrol may be stated by any of the following:
a. "Civil Air Patrol"
b. "Civil Air Patrol, incorporated under Special Act of Congress approved July 1, 1946, Public Law 476, 79th Congress"

and here is the silliness itself:

That's funny. I just renewed a month ago, and transferred a week ago, and mine doesn't say U.S. Civil Air Patrol.

Thank Tony!

He stood up in the Winter Board meeting and told everyone that he recieved an email from someone in South America, who also has a Civil Air Patrol.  So he suggested that we be called the US Civil Air Patrol.

A comprehensive google search was unable to find ANY "Civil Air Patrol"  Outside the United States.  I hate to think the NB was mislead....

But what do I know?  Maybe there is lots of confusion amongst the CAP's.

that's because the Brazilian CAP site isn't in English...

It is clearly a complete rip off of CAP.  But it does exist.

Maybe all the other things they said about Geneal Pineda were untrue.....

By all means, let's make way for them.

Bring it on, Brazil!  I bet you don't have these!  ::lifts CAP sword into the air, shouting "SARrrrrrrr"::

There is also a Civil Air Patrol in Australia.  Strictly SAR, no cadets, not governmental, not military.

I read the Brazilian site and I believe someone from the US saw CAP and duplicated in there in the 1950s.  The Aussies seemed to have adapted the CAP to teh Commonwealth and the Colombian one is more like "flying doctors."

Now folks... be aware of the following:

Australian CAP and the Patrulha AĆ©rea Civil of Brazil are strictly a search and rescue/ES organization. No cadet program. The Colombian CAP functions similar to Angel Flight.

Well, they are not a TOTAL rip-off of our CAP.  THEY have multi-engine aircraft, helicopters, berets, and subdued name tapes (But WHAT is with those sleeve patches!?)

The main thing is that the "United States Air Force Auxiliary" still appears on the card, and thats what counts.

loved the Brazilian chart.

Its a long way to Brazil, with winding roads through the Amazon Jungle: the black vans might need off-road tires.

I guess we should just be thankful that we aren't a part of the Army. With all of the badges they are allowed to wear, we'd never make it through an airport. Although the Army may support us better like they did the few years before the USAF.

I got my perm. membership card a couple of weeks ago and it still says 'Civil Air Patrol" at the top. No "U.S.".

The title of the topic is wrong; they're speaking about the new CAP Photo ID Card, not the standard-issue membership card.  The Photo ID card is an optional card that costs $4 and can be ordered via e-services.

Right down to the seal. Wonder what they say the 13 stars around the eagle and shield stand for? When did we adopt that general logo design anyway?
