Good morning,

On Saturday, September 11, the Texas Wing is scheduled to host its very first (at least for many years) CAP Cadet Military Ball. This weekend, the agenda for the event is being finalized, but I wanted to post on CAP Talk and see if anyone has experience with these type of things and might have any suggestions. Our numbers have been staggering and we are to the point where we cannot even offer tickets to everyone who wants them (in the 100's)..

I would greatly appreciate any ideas or suggestions for the planning staff to make this an outstanding event. If you have negative remarks, please do NOT share them. I am asking for feedback and positive suggestions only. Thanks in advance!

Sincerely,

You eat, dance, socialize...

To compare it to my AFJROTC instructor's summary of JROTC ball,

Quote from: Sergeant W.It's like prom with medals and sabres.

Which translates to:

Quote from: CAP VersionIt's like prom with uniforms and unplanned SAR.

They are a PITA to arrange, believe me. Oh, and in NJROTC, you wore them with all service uniforms. Every. Single. One. (we didn't have BDUs, and working khakis are officially only for field trips).

Back on topic- Oh my wow!!!!!

I got confused and posted a response to my Leadership Topics thread.... I nuked it. Anyway.

Not.

Medals = $$$. Lots of it. As often as cadets get ribbons, changing a medal mounting would get very expensive, for something that might get worn once a year.

+1

Unless you are a freak like me who attends a multitude of conferences and banquets each year, most cadets would waste a lot of money on something that would rarely be used. When that special occasion comes, just rip off the nameplate, put on a white shirt and a bowtie, and call it a day.
