Is anyone involved in rocketry outside of Civil Air Patrol?  If so, what are your current projects?

During the early part of my 17-year hiatus from CAP between 1988 and 2005, I was involved in competition model rocketry (or as the rest of the world calls it, 'spacemodeling') as a member of the NAR. Did get to go to one national championship and worked another one. I was also involved in advanced high-power rocketry in the days when they were still working out the regulations, qualifications and safety code. I'm 'semi-retired' from the hobby, currently.

I highly recommend involving cadets into competition rocketry as an additional area to explore once they've completed the requirements for the Model Rocketry badge. It should also be introduced as a senior member program, including advanced high-power rocketry.
