In the Lobby thread entitled "EchoLink" several non-ham radio operators mentioned that there should be a similar EchoLink service for non-hams.  IAWG has one and it is working.  I have set one up for CapTalk for your use. You will need a computer with sound card and microphone.  Download the software at http://www.goteamspeak.com/

Post a message to this board with your name and CAP ID and I'll send you a password.  This is a change from earlier today when we had open access. Unfortunately some individuals got on and caused troubles so I had to restrict access.

Here are the rules:

1.  Be professional.

2.  No trashing, bashing or otherwise badmouthing  the leadership of your squadron, group, Wing or NHQ.  (Your First Amendment freedom of speech ended when I paid the teamspeak bill. If you want to engage in that kind of behaviour pay for it yourself.)

3.  Don't sell anything.

I'm downloading it right now. Is there gonna be a specific date for everyone to join, or are you just looking to throw the invitation out there?

We can handle up to 20 users at a time. If that isn't sufficient, I'll bump it up.  It's just like EchoLink.

Others have been on and talking and the system is up.

SDF_Specialist

Ok, I think I'm on, but there doesn't appear to be anyone else on.

Sounds like everybody is having fun. Here are some operating practices that will make your use more enjoyable:

1. Use communications protocol...say "over" when you are done.

2.  It is simplex communication just like using a CAP radio. When you are talking everyone else should be listening.

3.  When there are more then two people on line, when you finish your transmission please indicate who you wish to talk next. A simple, "over to you Ryan" will work so Joe will know not to speak.

4. Monitor the user list. When someone new comes on line, give them a minute to hear and learn what is going on THEN turn it over to them to introduce themselves. This will avoid the "breaker breaker" situation.

5.  Remember there are many people on line...from cadet airman basics to Wing Commanders. Use appropriate titles and pay appropriate deference.

Hey just a suggestion.  While we were on the server some non members signed on and started causing trouble.  I suggest that we change the password and not post it on the forum, but make it available only by PM.  One of them was very disruptive and we should make the server secure.  Its already seeming to be a valuable communications resource, lets not let others muck it up for us.

That, OR, put it on a password protected forum thread.
