Thank you for the welcome.  What do you mean by "real deal vet"?  I have never heard that term before.

I am excited about contributing here.  I have to get some information on the Senior member program.  It has been a while, and I am sure that much has changed.

Regards
Paul

Hello,

My name is Paul, from Maine.  I am not a CAP member yet, but I am seriously considering my return.

I was a Cadet member from 1986-1991, where I was lucky enough to get my Mitchell Award.

Since 1990, I have served in two branches of service.  From 1990-2, I served as a Machinegunner and TOWII antitank missileman in the US Marine Corps.  From 1992 to present, I have been a corpsman in the US Coast Guard.  In total, I have 17 years of active service.  I am a veteran of Iraqi Freedom(Two tours), Haiti, and an active participant in combating drugs in and around Columbia.

As my military career draws closer to the end, I am considering my return to the Civil Air Patrol.  I loved it as a kid, so maybe I can return the favor by supporting the next generation of potential servicemen and women.

Paul, welcome back to CAP & THANK YOU for your service to our Country!  HOOAH!

You wouldn't happen to be in the St Louis area, would you?  It would be an honor to have you as a member of the Pegasus Squadron.

I'm just saying, you seem like the real deal.  Just something I said, nothing in the books.

In short, welcome.
Serving since 1987.

Hi Ben,

Thanks for posting those, and the link to your gallery. VERY nice shots indeed. Any plans on following the PAO Specialty Track?   ;)

BigMojo

Thanks for the kind words about my shots guys. It means even more coming from people who know what they are looking at in aircraft.

Lancer, I really hadn't thought about a specialty yet. I am joining CAP because I thought I could lend my photo skills to good use, in aircraft and teaching others. I have a lot of time in the right seat of a 182 with my dad, and am really looking forward to the chance at getting back in the air. In terms of PAO, I'm still learning about the specialties, and that one mimics my day job as Director of Marketing and PR...I write press releases all day....so I guess I'm well suited in that capacity as well...many things to think about and look into!

Here's one more shot, this is one of my favorites, it's a shot I took for friend when I was living up in TN, this was in Rome, GA.

Hello everyone! I'm new to CAP Talk but not to CAP. I have been a CAP member since October 2001. I signed up soon after 9/11 to do something for my country.  I was in the Army (SP4, 11B) briefly (about 6months), but was honorably discharged due to a training accident that greatly aggravated a preexisting condition. I bounced around several jobs including 911 dispatcher, retail clerk, dive store manager, among many others before settling into a job as a machinist that I have held for the last 17 years.

After 9/11 I tried to re-enlist but was told that my condition was permanent and that I was ineligible. However a very helpful USAF recruiter mentioned that I should check out CAP and the rest is history.
Since joining I have gotten my MO and GTL rating and I am now staring work on GBD. I have served as my Squadron's ES officer, Deputy Commander, and Commander. I had to take a break due to job and family pressures but now I am back.  I now work as the ES officer for the Western portion of NCWG's Group 2.

I have found that you get out of CAP a lot more than you put into it. Yes there is a lot of politicking that goes on and, sometimes the inertia seems insurmountable, but I have found this to be true in industry as well. All you have to do is have patience.

I should have added that I was in the Army 20 years ago. The way I worded it made it sound like I served right after 9/11. So much for proof reding.

Well I've made my presence known, but it never hurts to tell everyone about myself. I'm 23 years old, and I live in Cleveland, Ohio. I'm married with a two year old daughter. I joined Civil Air Patrol as a cadet in I believe May of 2001. After two years of service as a cadet I took a break from the program. Realizing that I really didn't want to take a break, I searched for a local unit, and came across one in Lorain County, Ohio. I started out there as the assistant Cadet Programs and Aerospace Education officer. Unfortunately, I didn't get along with the primary CP and AE officer at the time (we're friends now), so I switched my specialty tracks to Administration, Personnel and Communications. Once I obtained the Tech ratings in those, I took on the duty of the unit Transportation Officer. I eventually gained the Technician rating in Logistics, but stepped down because a more seasoned member of the unit wanted that position upon his return from college. I had no problems with this as I was very busy in Communications. In August of 2006, I earned the position of Ohio Wing HF Net Control Officer, and ran the net for a few months. Since I am a full time college student, it became more and more difficult to do the net since I had to travel about 45 minutes to do the net. I stepped down from that position, and was made the Licensing Officer which I still do. I was appointed as Group V Administration/Personnel and Communications in April of 2007, but I've recently stepped down from those positions. I've also recently transferred to the local unit OH-236 in Cleveland. Here, I am the Emergency Services Officer, and Communications Officer.

As I stated, I'm a full time college student and father, trying to obtain a Bachelors in Criminal Justice with Criminal Psychology as a minor. I have hopes of one day becoming a squadron commander, but you never know what the future holds. That's me. Like me or leave me.  ;D

Howdy y'all. I'm new to CAP Talk but not to CAP, I just never got around to making the account. Well, I'm C/2d Lt Emily Greiner from Teaneck Composite Squadron of New Jersey Wing. I've been in CAP for a little over two years now.

Good day,
I'm new to CAP Talk, and fairly new to CAP. I joined in Dec. 06.  I'm calling Minnesota my home now after retiring from USAF in '94.  See ya around.
