First, why isn't there a general "Events" board for non CP-specific events?

Second, according to the national website, MAWG has an SLS course coming up next month. I tried to email the contact provided, but the message was bounced. I checked the MAWG website, but I couldn't find any mention of SLS on there.

Does anyone know if this is still happening and who the new POC is?
Or, does anyone know of any SLS course in NER that is not on the national calendar? Maybe ME or VT?

Yes, that's the one I linked to.
The one with the non-working contact.
In fact, it kind of looks like you just copied and pasted directly from that link.

Do you have any updated information on it?

I live in Maryland,so no more information.  You might want to contact the MAWG PD Officer or the Westover Squadron directly

The email bounced because that's a bad domain.

Wing email addresses in the .gov space are "@wwww.cap.gov"

Try this:  Rob.Baron@mawg.cap.gov

There are also emails in the XXWGCAP.GOV format. That is the new CAWG scheme.

Pick up the phone, call the wing and tell them that their POC info is broken. And then find out about the class...

CAWG doing their own thing which breaks an established, easy to understand format?

This is my shocked face.

In this case, it's as indicated.

Actually, no.

The new CAWG site is, inexplicably, http://cawgcap.org/

Org, not gov.  cawgcap.gov is not a registered domain, and cawg.cap.gov redirects to the above.

PAWG has several coming up. I'm familiar with the one that will take place in September ... but it's in Pittsburgh which may be a bit far for you to travel.

Rob.Baron@mawg.cap.gov is the POC for the SLS, but if anyone is having trouble, please feel free to reply or PM me and I will make certain that you can get a hold of MSgt Baron. And thank you for your interest in our SLS!

I wonder how Alabama wound up using a dotUS domain? Any other wings likewise?

Probably paid for the domain for a number of years. It's been that since I've been here.

I did an analysis of that here:

The reality is that for quite a while, especially predating Google Suites, the canned security checks that
the cap.gov administrator was running made it very difficult to obtain one depending on the host the unit was using.

Many CC's, including myself, did two or three orbits on the issue and then chose the path of least resistance
just to get things done.

For example, in my case, the host we chose and paid-for generated an error on one server module that
resulted in a message to the canned security checker that the server was not full patched.  The host insisted
the boxes were current, and after investigation found that this particular module had a pending bug fix that,
while it was updated, returned the wrong version number to the security scanner.  This was a known issue
and discussed in a number of forums, and further, this was a flat website with a few pages of html and
no eCommerce etc.,  we were primarily interested in email, which passed all the scans.

The cap.gov admin at the time refused to acknowledge this or allow the domain to be hosted at this
provider, so we chose a .net and moved on to the next shiny.  That was 13 years, and at least 3 providers ago.

My understanding is that similar issues related to this were not uncommon for many people making the requests,
and at some point it was just not worth the hassle.

Capt Freeman, I sent you another PM a little over a week ago with a few questions.
