I was just trying to come up with extra things to do when I eventually visit Australia... Thanks for reminding me to add Aerospace museums to the list :D

Republic of Viet Nam Air Force (VNAF)

FTFY

It was called the Viet Nam Air Force (VNAF) )(Không lực Việt Nam Cộng hòa) which was part of the Republic of Viet Nam Armed Forces (Việt Nam Cộng Hòa).  The North Vietnamese Air Force was officially known as the Viet Nam People's Air Force (VPAF) (Không quân Nhân dân Việt Nam).

It was one of the few things that the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam does not lie about in their museums.  The ones I have been to were somewhat interesting in that you had to wade through the lies to find the truth.  In the War Remnants Museum in Sài Gòn (oops Hồ Chí Minh--yes even in Sài Gòn the locals call it Sài Gòn in Vietnamese writing but use Hồ Chí Minh on official documents ), it flat out states that the VPA never once committed a human atrocity and that all atrocities were committed by the US and the ARVN.  They even had a picture of a VPA atrocity but was incorrectly cited as an ARVN.  That any cited VPA atrocities were false and actually carried out by the ARVN.

..and there's these critters posed to take a flying leap on some of the aircraft too. Only seen one US registered aircraft thus far.. typically I'll see a few Mexican and Canadian ones. Taking a bit to get used to ;-)

Here's a donated Quantas 747 in a rural setting..

Almost hard to believe that a Boeing 747-400 is old enough to be in a museum.

Truth, PHall!  I remember when 747s were pretty new, flying on an -SP via Guam and Okinawa to Taiwan in the mid 70s.

Although the last time I was at Pax River MD, I visited the US Navy Test and Eval museum, and saw the X-32 and X-35 that I signed flight clearances for. Made me feel old...

Many of the 747-400's are being replaced by 777-200's and 300's.
Same capacity, longer range and only two engines!
But the 747-400's still kick butt as freighters! Been a lot of conversions done by Boeing.

Which is really an acronym: Queensland And Northern Territories Air Service. QANTAS 747-400s are titled 'Longreach' after the town in Queensland where QANTAS started flying. (I still don't like L'Edsel - ahem - the A380; its proportions don't look as graceful as the 747.)
Lt Col Charles E. (Chuck) Corway, CAP

There's a reason why Airbus is also known as "Scarebus"...
