Title: The Military Family
Post by: Cliff_Chambliss on September 21, 2017, 01:41:08 PM
I did not write this; stole it from another forum. Laughed WAY too hard not to share! Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

One person's take on the military:
"The military branches explained: the Army, Navy, and Marines are all brothers in a family.
Army is the oldest and mom and dad made all their parenting mistakes with him.
The Navy is the middle son, they're the explorers who left home and no one cared.
The Marines are the youngest who mom and dad let do whatever they want and they still have an inferiority complex due to their small size.

Well, mom and dad got divorced once all the boys were grown.
Mom got remarried to a rich guy and quickly gave birth to a fourth son, the Air Force.
Now she loves him the most, showers him with the best toys, and buys him whatever he wants. When they go on vacation they fly first class, stay in 5 star hotels, and enjoy the finest meals. The air force is spoiled rotten and his three older brothers have bitter resentment toward him for this.

Finally there's the Coast Guard. The Coast Guard is the rich step dad's son from his first marriage and none of the other brothers think or act like he's part of the family.
That's the best way to explain the various service branches and their internal dynamics to civilians."

In a similar vein:

"The US military actually only has two branches, the Army and the Navy. The Air Force is a corporation, and the Marine Corps is a cult."

The Army has doctrine. The Navy has tradition. The Air Force is new.

My favorite is the Armed Forces Radio time check:

"For you Army people out there, it's 1600 hours.
For you Navy people, it's 8 bells.
For the Air Force people, it's 4 p.m.
And for the Marines, Mickey's big hand is on the 12, and his little hand is on
the 4."

Alternatively: "For the Air Force people, it's happy hour."

If the AF is so good at partying, why are the Navy, Marine and Army folks are always the ones who either: are the last folks around when the clubs close up, or are the first ones getting asked to leave when they party too hard?  >:D

Strange......I never had a problem at the Kadena AB club being one of a very small detachment of Marines stationed there. We were the only Marines allowed in the AF clubs. I didn't go home by myself often.
